Tuesday Back to Ft Lauderdale last time

Today's goal was to drive to Ft Lauderdale, find our Comfort Inn hotel and get ready to return the car and find the airport first thing in the morning. But since we had only 100 miles or so to go, we had plenty of time to poke around and explore. But first, breakfast at the Wooden Spoon, across the street from Kingsail. A tiny little diner, very busy and not relaxing at all! But the food was good!

First stop was the John Kennecamp State Park. A favorite for snorklers looking at the reefs. We'd been there many years ago with Janet and Shawn (before kids). Sam remembered going with Janet on a glass bottomed boat, while Shawn and I went snorkeling in rough water - not a good experience!

Next stop was Biscayne National Park.  There's a nice visitor center and a great walk along the bay. We saw a bunch of "Needlefish". They look like needle nose pliers!

From there to our hotel, near the FL airport, was an hour of white knuckle driving - 4 lanes of 70 mph. But "Mrs Mac" got us there! (I reminded myself to not complain about Eagle Road!)

By the time got our hotel it was raining. So we didn't go out for dinner - we ordered out from Pizza Hut. Not bad, actually!
